Free! Parenting for a Different World is delighted to share with our community this award-winning documentary.

Screenagers Elementary School Age Edition probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts the struggles over social media, video games, and academics. The film offers solid answers to questions about how we can help our kids navigate the digital world. Ideal for parents/caregivers and children of all age.

The Science of Well-Being for Parents

Picture
The most popular class in Yale University’s history, now for parents! Taught by Dr. Laurie Santos, the Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon Professor of Psychology and Head of Silliman College at Yale University.

Together, you'll tackle topics like rethinking time management, dealing with tough feelings like guilt and frustration, and navigating your child's academic stress and screen time. Through engaging lessons and parent Q&As, you'll learn how to reframe your thoughts, manage your emotions, and modify your behaviors in response to everyday challenges.

Learn more Dr. Santos here and enroll for free on Coursera.

Why?

We believe in fostering dialog through teaching and learning: from each other, but also from the experts. A sampling of our events includes:
  • Workshops on fostering resilience and healthy coping skills, featuring adolescent development expert Kenneth Ginsburg, M.D., M.S.Ed., FAAP
  • Pathways Music Fest, in partnership with Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation: a safe and fun Friday night offering for middle schoolers
  • Playshop, with Jeff and Lee Franklin: a workshop exploring the benefits of imaginative play on healthy brain development
  • Challenge Success survey at Severna Park Middle School, a tool that is designed to help schools make data-driven decisions to improve student well-being and engagement in learning.
  • Our kick-off event was a well-attended panel discussion of clergy, coaches and community members.
